Female triathlete of the year? My vote went to Rachel Joyce! Sure, it would have been easy to pick the unbeatable Chrissie Wellington… but Rachel is proving to be a consistent, relentless and amazing athlete: one position better every year in Kona (4th in 2011) and winner of the ITU Long Distance 4 weeks later this year. Quite a progression, and I bet the best is yet to come. Congrats!
Great mashup with the best of this year’s World Ironman in Kona. I found the soundtrack relaxing and motivating at the same time.
Most of my posts so far seem to involve Ironman, in a way or another.
Thus I should maybe clarify that such an achievement in not even in my most ambitious plans for a debut year in 2012, although I would really like to have at one point in my life enough time, motivation and luck to complete a 140.6 mile race.
In the meantime, just as a quiet reminder of where the sky is, I chose a pair of Ironman-branded aerobars for my first bike!
Don’t you find turbo trainers incredibly boring? I think this Christmas I’d rather give myself a roller trainer! I just hope to avoid bumping into the TV set with my bike, aerobars, cleats etc…
Yes, the achievements of professional athletes are always exciting… but what about the inspiration conveyed by an age grouper who just keeps pursuing her dream with relentless motivation?
Long distance triathlon remains the final goal (or perhaps I should say dream, in the case of a full Ironman)… In the meantime, let’s keep my feet on the ground and have a look at the most convincing training plan for a 10K that I’ve found so far.
